IV TECHNICIAN
Next Class: October 29th - November 16th, 2024
This course is for current EMTs with at least 1 year of experience who would like to expand their knowledge and skillset to become EMT/IV Technicians.
Upon completion of this course and required paperwork, graduates are eligible to obtain their IV Technician endorsement from the Washington State Department of Health.

Non-Mason County students: A statement from your MPD acknowledging this class will meet your county's initial IV Technician training requirements

Mason County Students: Being prepared to transition from BLS OTEP to the ILS/ALS OTEP (Base Station) training requirements.

COURSE DETAILS
DATES & TIMES
October 29th, 2024 - November 16th, 2024 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. There will be no class held on Thursday, October 31st. Instead, this class session will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

WHAT TO KNOW
You are about to embark on an approximately 48-hour training program to receive an IV Technician endorsement from the Washington State Department of Health. In addition to your class time, you will also be required to complete hospital/field rotations sufficient to meet the minimum number of successful IV starts before the end of the course. You may also need to study on your time outside of class.
CLASS REQUIREMENTS
Attend all class sessions
Pass written test with 80% or above
Fifteen successful IVs during the class
Complete a minimum of 2 hours of hospital time at the Mason General Hospital and additional time with the Emergency Department and local EMS agencies as needed to meet IV start requirements.
COST
$620 for Mason County EMS Council members / $740 for non-council members.
Cost includes your book and supplies. The IV catheters and supplies you use during class may not be the same as those your agency uses.
